KULLIYYAH OF ECONOMICS AND
MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

The Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS) was one of the first two faculties established when the International Islamic University Malaysia began operations in 1983.  Our vision is to be a leading faculty of international excellence in teaching, research and consulting services integrating conventional economics, accounting, business and finance including Islamic banking and finance-related areas imbued with values and morality based on revealed sources of knowledge. There are currently four academic departments within the Kulliyyah:

INTRODUCTION

The Department seeks to equip students with the necessary technical skills and Islamic values
for the business world. Undergraduate courses offered by the department provide conceptual,
technical, interpersonal and communications skills that are required in the business environment.
The courses are generally designed to achieve the following objectives:

● To provide graduates with strong conceptual, technical, analytical, interpersonal and
communication skills that are required in the business environment.
● To produce graduates with a broad education in business within the areas of
management, finance, marketing, information technology and international business.
● To produce competent business graduates imbued with Islamic values for public, private
and not-for-profit organisations.

● Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing)
● Bachelor of Business Administration (Human Resource Management)

Career Prospects

Graduates of Bachelor in Business Administration have broad career prospects in various
industries from banking and insurance to hospitality and healthcare services. Students have the
option to work as managers and thereon build their career into leadership positions in areas such
as human resource, operations management, marketing, banking and finance, and international
business. Many graduates also went on to form their own start-up companies and became
successful entrepreneurs. Graduates who opt for a career in public, private and non-profit
organisations can expect to move up the corporate ladder into leadership positions such as chief
executive officer, chief operating officer and chief financial officer.

Minimum Requirement for Bachelor of Business Administration

The requirement to join the Bachelor of Business Administration department is an average grade of B- (or Q.P.E. of 2.67) for Principles & Practice of Management (MGT 2010), Foundation of Islamic Finance (ISF 1101) & Statistical Methods (ECON 1140); and CGPA of not less than 2.0 (in good standing).
